HOW It STARTED…
And where we are now

Back in 2019, at the very start of the pandemic, I suddenly found myself without work. What began as a necessity quickly turned into an idea: making fresh sandwiches and cakes for local businesses looking for something different, homemade, and affordable.

Before long, I was delivering homemade food to the wider local workforce — all prepared from home — visiting shops, surgeries, libraries, and businesses around Bourton-on-the-Water.

About a year later, full of confidence and encouragement, I took the leap and opened La Reine. The aim was simple: homemade food, great breakfasts and brunches, and a warm welcome for locals and visitors alike.

As time went on, the business evolved — and so did our vision.

Today, we have reopened and rebranded as Ace of Spuds: a relaxed, modern eatery focused on proper breakfasts and great jacket potatoes at lunchtime. Simple food, done well. No fuss. No shortcuts.

We see ourselves as an eatery rather than a café — a place where food comes first, portions are generous, and quality always matters. Our menu is focused, seasonal, and constantly refined, and it’s important to us that every member of the team feels confident and proud of what they serve.

We look forward to welcoming you
